Meet Katie . . .
Hi, my name is Katie Parris. I truly appreciate you taking a few minutes to visit the Country Crossroads Counseling website and hope that you contact us for any therapeutic needs you may have. I grew up in rural Missouri, enjoying life on a farm. I still live in rural Johnson County and find peace spending time in nature and staying connected to my roots.
I earned my Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology and Child Development from the University of Central Missouri in 2007. I worked in the community realm of social services with families and children before earning my Masters Degree in Counseling from the University of Central Missouri in 2012. Since, I have been employed as a school counselor. I have obtained my PLPC, and am working towards completing my LPC certification. I am dedicated to helping children, teens, and adults develop healthy lifestyles.
Sometimes just having someone there to listen to the daily stresses of life in a non-judgmental and caring way can help you feel better. On other occasions, therapeutic interventions are needed to build skills in order to cope with different problems. My approach is Solution Focused Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. In Solution Focused Therapy conversation is directed toward developing and achieving the client’s vision of solutions, rather than problems. This theory encourages individuals to imagine the future they desire and then work together to develop a series of steps that will help them achieve those goals.
In my personal life, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends. My daughter and I love to play outside, spend time on the family farm, and keep an active lifestyle.
