Introducing 4KEEPS
A Positive Approach to Suicide Prevention for Students

The 4KEEPS Program is a proactive initiative designed to educate students about suicide prevention in a supportive and engaging way. 4KEEPS is an acronym that stands for Knowledge, Education, Empowerment, and Peer Support. Through a 45-minute presentation, students learn vital information about mental health, the risks of suicide, and how to identify signs of struggle in themselves and their peers. Topics covered include stress, depression, bullying, social media, and self-care, helping students build awareness and resilience.
A key focus of 4KEEPS is empowering students to create a supportive environment for one another. By providing practical tools and peer support strategies, students are encouraged to reach out to trusted adults and help friends in need. They’ll learn how to recognize the signs of mental health challenges, respond to friends in crisis, and promote self-care in everyday life.
To ensure safety, all participating students complete a confidential risk assessment. Our Country Crossroads Counselors follow up with individualized support for students who may need additional help, working closely with families and school staff to create a safe and supportive plan.
With 4KEEPS, we aim to reduce the stigma around mental health and equip students with the knowledge and confidence to support each other, fostering a caring and connected school community.

In addition to the program part, 4KEEPS has also started a non-profit that aids schools by raising funds to help offset the cost of the program. 4KEEPS has partnered with Choose2Live, which is also a non-profit that supports mental health and has made considerable investments towards mental health awareness and the 4KEEPS program.
