A little bit about Jess . . .

Jess McKinzie

Hi! My name is Jess McKinzie and I'm so happy you're here! I know how hard it is to look for someone you can feel comfortable opening up to, and I commend you for taking this step towards a better you!

I attended the University of Central Missouri, earning a Bachelor's of Science in Psychology, then continued my education to obtain a Master's of Science in Human and Family Developmental Science with a specialization in Marriage and Family Therapy. I am now a Provisionally Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist which allows me to do what I love every day! I enjoy working with couples and adults to manage their mental health struggles and overcome life's hardships to become the best version of themselves.

I tailor my therapeutic approach to each individual using a variety of modalities including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Bowenian Therapy, and Internal Family Systems Therapy. I prefer to create a judgement-free environment with acceptance and understanding that extends to the neurodivergent and LGBTQIA+ communities. I also have a passion for working with active and retired military and first responders who deserve a place to heal from the traumas rarely discussed from their heroic careers.

Outside of work, I love to spend time with my friends, traveling, or with my corgi and mini-dachshund, Beau and Charlie!
It is okay to ask for help; we all need someone sometimes. I admire your courage for taking this step to better yourself and I would be honored to provide a safe space where you can flourish!
