A little bit about Jessica Janis, LPC . . .

Helping with children, teenagers, and young adults

Hi, I'm Jessica Janis. Thanks for taking the time to learn a little bit about me. By researching a counselor, you are already taking such an important step in your healing process!

I graduated from the University of Central Missouri in 2011, earning a Bachelor of Science in Psychology. While working on my bachelors degree, I led research on counselor effectiveness. I completed my master's degree in Counselor Education from the University of Central Missouri in 2016.

I am passionate about all populations and helping all types of different people. I enjoy working with all ages but have a special place in my heart for kids, teens, and young adults who struggle with behavior and emotional regulation. I spent 8 years in public education and have learned to see the good in everyone's heart.

My office is always a judgment-free zone for all to be accepted in. It is also a Solution Focused office where we learn new skills and examine our beliefs about ourselves through Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.

I also love working with families to create a more cohesive family environment.

I believe everyone can do better if they learn better, myself included. As a parent of a foster child turned adoptive child, I know I am not perfect all of the time. I would never want my clients and/or their families to think they need to be perfect for me to accept them where they are currently at. We are all doing as best as our mental, emotional, and physical health allows us to. Perhaps you don't know if anyone in your family needs or would attend therapy, but if you think your family could benefit from a one-time Family Dynamic Session, please give the office a call!

Along with the above interests, I also utilize Animal Assisted Therapy with Toby, a trained therapy dog. Toby is great at unlocking the hearts of clients who are nervous about starting services. Finally, I also work as the Director of Continued Education & Wellness at Country Crossroads Counseling to help support our therapist and ensure we as an agency have healthy staff to serve the community's needs.

Aside from a counselor, I am also a mother and wife. In my spare time I work on restoring my Victorian home, baking, gardening, hiking and spending time with friends and family. I would love to help you with any struggles you or a loved one may be facing.
