A little bit about Jessica Janis, LPC . . .
Helping with children, teenagers, and young adults
Hi, I'm Jessica Janis. Thanks for taking the time to learn a little bit about me. By researching a counselor, you are already taking such an important step in your healing process!
Hello! I’m Jessica Janis, a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) with a deep passion for supporting others, whether that’s through one-on-one therapy or providing resources and education to helpers in the community. I spent nearly a decade as a school counselor in public education, where I had the honor of being named the 2018 Educator of the Year. My background in psychology, combined with a master’s degree in Counselor Education from the University of Central Missouri, has shaped my approach to therapy. I focus on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), while also drawing from solution-focused strategies, somatic psychology, and trauma-informed care to meet the unique needs of each individual I work with.
Currently, I serve as the Director of Continuing Education and Wellness for Country Crossroads Counseling, where I develop educational materials and resources to help others in helping professions, as well as caregivers and parents. One of my proudest projects is The Helper’s Handbook, a guide for those in helping roles to better understand vicarious trauma and how to prioritize their own self-care. I believe that when we take care of ourselves, we are better able to support others, and it’s a message I’m passionate about sharing.
I am currently available for virtual sessions as I take time away from the office to help care for my special needs grandson. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my husband, daughter, two grandsons, and pets. I’ve been working with Toby, my therapy dog, since 2016. Together we continue to work as animal assisted therapy ambassadors and make appearances at our Blue Springs office.
If you find yourself, curious about learning how to take better care of yourself or want to find a healthier balance in life please don't hesitate to reach out!
