I look forward to working with you and

achieving change one step at a time!

Hi,

I am a counselor licensed in Missouri and Kansas with close to 13 years of experience working alongside individuals wanting to address everyday life concerns to those diagnosed with severe and persistent mental illness. I have worked alongside clients with a wide range of concerns including depression, anxiety, relationship issues, motivational challenges, parenting problems, hyperactivity, impulsivity, opposition, mood swings, psychosis, paranoia and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). I have enjoyed success and special training to work with children (5+) but also enjoy working with adults.

My counseling style is supportive, encouraging, interactive and educational. I believe all individuals are worthy of respect and compassion and that it is wrong to criticize others. I experience successful outcomes through use of evidenced-based research (tools that are scientifically proven to help) in developing tailored treatment planning. My approach combines cognitive-behavioral therapy (how our thoughts impact our feelings and how our feelings impact our behavior) with a systems approach (how things interact and impact one another) and client-centered approach (supportive/encouraging).

I also am trained in using eye movement desensitization reprocessing (EMDR), trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy (tf-cbt) and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) to help address a variety of issues. I don't believe in cookie-cutter approaches to mental health and am capable of tailoring interactions and treatment planning to meet a wide variety of unique and specific needs.

I’ve been married over 28 years and have tackled all sorts of life’s challenges and successes with my husband and family. I consider myself very blessed, resilient and enjoy giving back to my community. I approach life from a holistic perspective and believe that diet, exercise, sleep and practicing the Christian faith helps me maintain a positive perspective. In my free time I enjoy game nights, being outdoors, traveling and learning new things.

It takes courage to seek change and even consider talking with a counselor. If you're thinking it’s time to do something different, I'm ready to help support, encourage and work with you so you get the tools you need to live a more fulfilled and empowered life.

I look forward to working with you and achieving change one step at a time!
